Get To Know Donna Bolin

January 2022 - You'd never know Donna Bolin joined the Emmanuel team less than 7 months ago - it's like she's been a part of the team all along!  Want to know some fun and interesting facts about Donna? You're in luck, because she is our Featured Employee this month!

1. What is one surprising or interesting fact about you that people may not know about?
   When I was a teenager, I danced for Alvin Ailey's American Dance Theater in NYC.
    
2. If you could choose anyone to be a mentor, who would it be, and what would you like to learn from them?
   My 4th Grade teacher Mr. Brigham, he was so mean and scary, and no one wanted him as a teacher. I feared going into school the entire year, but looking back on it as an adult I realize he was one of the best teachers I ever had. Despite how mean he was and how much he yelled, he had this way of making you love school and want to do your best.
    
3. What is the last book you read?
   "Life is Messy" by Matthew Kelly.
    
4. You have your own late night talk show, who do you invite as your first guest?
   Betty White!!
    
5. If you could pick up a new skill in an instant, what would it be?
   Landscape Design. I have all these ideas for my yard but unfortunately no green thumb!
    
6. Did you make any new year's resolutions? If so, which do you feel will be the hardest to stick to?
   Yes - making more time for myself. With 3 kids and a husband who works nights, it is so difficult to have any "me time". We are 2 weeks into the new year and I haven't figured it out yet, but I still have plenty of time.
    
7. What's something that recently made you smile?
   Seeing my kids play in the snow this past weekend. They have had a rough 2 years and to see them so happy and being able to be "normal" kids was so wonderful.
    
8. What are you enjoying the most about being a part of the Emmanuel team?
   That it is exactly that, a team. No matter where we all live, we are all treated like family. The appreciation and support from everyone, especially management, is so genuine and makes me want to work harder and do better.
    
9. What advice would you give to someone who is interested in joining the Emmanuel team?
   Be willing to learn and work hard.
    
10. What personal characteristic do you believe is key in order to be successful in your role at Emmanuel?
    To me both drive and self-motivation are most important because it supports continuous learning, success and growth.
