Personal Auto Insurance

Auto insurance protects you from financial impact resulting from damage to your car, injury to others caused by you and other household members as a result of operating a motor vehicle, or if your vehicle is stolen. An auto insurance policy can provide coverage for areas such as: repair of car damage, injury or property damage liability, reimbursement of medical expense if others are hurt in an accident, and can also reimburse you for injury caused to you by an uninsured or underinsured driver. Terms of policies vary based on coverage selected and can be customized for special situations (for example, the addition of coverage for custom audio equipment or business use of your auto). Protect yourself from the unexpected.

Personal Auto Insurance

Auto insurance offers various types of coverage to offset financial liability in the event of an accident. Every policy has specific parameters, such as deductibles and limits. It is important to carefully consider all aspects of potential auto Insurance coverage (see below), and understand state requirements, before making your purchasing decisions.

What might be covered by Auto Insurance?

Although this list is not exhaustive, it provides some common elements of Auto Insurance coverage and a quick overview of each.

  • Collision: This coverage helps pay for repair of damage resulting from a collision between your car and another car or object. Coverage varies depending on policy selected and deductibles will apply. This coverage is also typically required if you are financing or leasing a vehicle.
  • Comprehensive: This coverage helps pay for repair of damage to a vehicle that is caused by specific incidents such as storms, flood, fire, vandalism, etc. Coverage varies depending on policy selected and deductibles will apply.
  • Liability Coverage: This coverage will help provide you with financial protection if there is injury to another driver (or damages to a vehicle) resulting from an accident for which you are being held legally responsible. Coverage extends to the limits set by the policy.
  • Full Coverage: This coverage is generally made up of a combination of the three coverages outlined above. It generally costs more, but also covers a broader variety of scenarios which could ultimately make it more cost effective longer-term (depending on coverage selected).
  • Medical Payments and Personal Injury Coverage: This may cover certain medical expenses resulting from a collision or accident. Coverage extends to the limits set by the policy.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured: This may cover property damage and/or injuries resulting from an accident caused by an uninsured or underinsured driver.
  • Special Coverages: There are additional coverages available depending on your needs, such as rental coverage (if a car rental is necessary while regular car is getting repaired), roadside assistance, umbrella insurance, etc.
